With April right around the corner, fans of Game of Thrones are patiently awaiting the eighth and final season of the hit HBO series, based on the books by George R.R. Martin. But there are also plenty of brands excited for the series to return after an abnormally long hiatus dating back to Summer 2017, mainly to capitalize on the fad. From Ommegang Brewing to Diageo Whisky, there have been plenty of Game of Thrones inspired products – and the latest is a collection from adidas.
Earlier this month, word began to circulate that adidas was teaming up with the fantasy series to release a six-piece set of co-created Ultra Boost sneakers, inspired by six of the series’ most prominent houses, or groups of characters. The characters featured will include the Night’s Watch, House Stark, House Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, House Targaryen and the White Walkers. Each sneaker will have a distinct color scheme that is representative to the person or the group’s figurehead with a signature phrase from each, such as “Winter Is Here” for the White Walkers and “Hear Me Roar” for the Lannisters. These sneakers will also feature custom Game of Thrones insoles as well as a detail under the tongue pertaining to that specific house.
New episodes of Game of Thrones will premiere on HBO on April 14 and these limited edition sneakers will likely hit the market in early spring. There’s no word on how much this nerdy footwear will coast but a typical pair of Ultra Boost 4.0 runs for right around $180.
