Braxton Brewing Company, which is based out of Covington, Kentucky, will be the official beer sponsor for the 2018 Breeders’ Cup held at Churchill Downs on Nov. 2-3.
The Braxton Breeders’ Cup Golden Ale will be served at the event’s welcome party at Tavern on Fourth in 4th Street Live, at the Trophy Lounge and at the Omni and Aloft hotels on Nov. 1.
The brewery, which started out in a garage roughly four years ago, has become one of the state’s more notable beer makers. Braxton’s core selection features four year-round beers, with special efforts during each season, including an Oktoberfest lager which is perfect for this time of year. The company also has a Garage Series of smaller-batch efforts, for any beer nerd.

Haze days. 🌫️ Tomorrow Braxton Labs taps a hazy New England Double IPA! Starting at 5pm you'll be able to get your hands on the latest installment in Labs' NE IPA series. We double dry hopped this hazy IPA with a hefty amount of Loral and Mosaic hops. Trust us. You're not going to want to miss it! #liftonetolife #braxtonlabs
Partnering with one of Kentucky’s biggest events will only further bring attention to the brewery. In addition, the limited edition golden ale beer will be sold in a slick purple Breeders’ Cup can and retail for $9.99 in Kroger locations and select liquor stores throughout the state, though there’s no plans of launching it nationally. Better get it while you can, because it won’t last long.
For horse racing fans, the limited edition beer is yet another collector’s item that they can get in the month of October after the Justify Makers Mark Triple Crown bottle was released on Oct. 19. You can bet we bought one of those bottles.
