October is here and it’s time to start watching classic horror films to get into the Halloween spirit but if you’re going to binge the entire A Nightmare on Elm Street collection, you’ll need something to help keep you awake for the marathon viewing. Don’t worry, Freddy Kreuger himself can help with that.
Robert Englund, the actor who portrayed the glove-wearing, dream-stalking killer in more than a half-dozen films in Wes Craven’s franchise, announced a collaboration with Dead Sled Coffee to develop “Nightmare Blend” coffee – part of a series of officially-licensed horror-themed blends. With the New Jersey-based company’s other coffee blends highlighting the likes of Vampira, Vincent Price and Bela Lugosi, it was a no-brainer to partner with Englund to create an “exceptional and unconventional” coffee.
Available now for pre-order, the Robert Englund Nightmare Bundle includes two bags of Englund’s coffee, a limited edition baseball-style shirt and mug, plus other exclusives like stickers and magnets. One of the bags is exclusive to the bundle and features Englund looking out the iconic Elm Street front door. This design will never be available again, according to the company. Anyone who pre-orders the $100 bundle through Dead Sled Coffee’s website will automatically be entered into a contest to win one of 50 coffee bags signed by Englund – plus there will be 50 holographic “golden ticket” stickers as well. Find one and redeem it for not only a signed bag of coffee but also a replica Nightmare Glove from Anders Eriksen of Nightmare Gloves. And if the coffee tastes like something from a dream, a 25 percent off coupon is also included for a future order.
Here’s a description of Englund’s collaboration, per Dead Sled Coffee’s website:
Robusta coffee is the traditional bean of Vietnam and has nearly twice the caffeine of Arabica coffee beans. The finely ground blend of the Vietnamese Robusta and South American blend allow not only a bolder flavor, but a naturally stronger caffeine content so you can STAY AWAKE and stay safe from the King of Nightmares.
For those of you who prefer whole bean, you will have the option to get the blend in whole bean and then choose your own grind level. Robert himself preferred the Turkish ground blend, but we wanted to make sure all coffee drinkers had an option.
The bundle will start shipping a few weeks after Oct. 12, hopefully in time for Freddy to give us even more jitters on Halloween, with order in the U.S. eligible for free shipping. No word on when single bags of Englund’s coffee will be available for purchase.
