He might be the wacky, eccentric Food Network host but if there’s one thing we’ve learned about Guy Fieri, it’s that he’s always giving back through various charitable donations. The California native was on-site cooking up out-of-bounds dishes for those on the frontlines fighting last year’s wildfires and now, stuck at home like so many, he’s finding ways to help restaurant workers.
Fieri is partnering with Igloo to create a custom Flavortown Playmate cooler as part of his campaign to raise $100 million for the National Restaurant Association to help support American restaurant workers currently feeling the financially crippling effects of COVID-19. The limited edition white and black cooler, which has Fieri’s printed signature as well as the Knuckle Sandwich and Restaurant Relief America logos, features the Hollywood sign, though the iconic historical landmark has been replaced with the word “Flavortown.” Surprisingly, there are no flames anywhere on the cooler.
It weighs 2.2 pounds and can hold nine 12-ounce cans but the most important part is that for every insulated chest sold on Igloo’s website, 100 percent of the profits will directly support the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund.
“If you don’t have a need for a good cooler, I don’t think you’re having enough fun! When we get through this crazy time, you’re gonna want to get back out into the sunshine and a great American-made Igloo cooler should be the first thing you grab,” said Guy Fieri in a statement. “With all profits going to support America’s restaurant workers, there couldn’t be a better time to stay cool in Flavortown.”
The cooler is $39.99 and can be purchased through four interest-free flex pays of $10. It’s currently available for pre-sale, with orders expected to ship in the next 30 days. If you’re a restaurant worker impacted by COVID-19, you can apply online for a one-time, $500 check to use towards housing, transportation, childcare, groceries, student loans or medical bills.
It’s just another reason to love Fieri. So with all of the awesome the 52-year-old is doing, we’re going to go watch Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and marvel at all of the delicious food we can’t make while hunkered at home.
