There’s two things that Kentucky knows very well and has made a huge part of the state’s rich tradition and that’s bourbon and horses. Maker’s Mark is honoring both industries with the fall release of their special collector’s bottle of Triple Crown winner Justify.
The chestnut colt went 6-0 with wins at the 144th annual Kentucky Derby during record rain, the Preakness, and the Belmont Stakes to become the 13th Triple Crown winner in horse racing history. He is now retired at stud with his breeding rights reportedly being sold for $75 million to Coolmore Farm. His 2019 stud fee will be $150,000.
Maker’s Mark has honored past Triple Crown winners with a collector’s bottle. They made one for Seattle Slew (1977 Triple Crown winner), Affirmed (1978 Triple Crown winner) and American Pharoah (2015 Triple Crown winner).
For Justify’s limited edition one-liter bottle, will be black with green wax and feature the WinStar Farm logo and feature an image of jockey Mike Smith and Justify galloping around the track at Churchill Downs during the Kentucky Derby.
A release date has yet to be specified outside of a “fall release” and will be available at select liquor stores for $59.99 and will raise money for the Kentucky Derby Museum and Ann Hanley’s Parkinson’s Research Fund.
A signing event for the Justify collector’s bottle will take place the week of Breeders’ Cup where fans will have a chance to do a meet and greet and get their bottle signed by iconic figures to celebrate the occasion.
