New Study Says Indianapolis Is The Best City To Be An NFL Fan, Ranks All 32 Markets

For as long as the National Football League has been around, fan bases have bickered about which city is the best spot to be an NFL fan. Well, the folks over at Gaming Club conducted a study of their own to find out and, as it turns out, Indianapolis, home of the Indianapolis Colts, is the best.

Each of the 32 teams were ranked in the study, based off of six different categories, which included pollution, meal price, beer price, precipitation, ticket price and touchdowns.  Indianapolis might not have led any of those categories but the city scored higher than average in four – touchdowns, ticket price, beer price and meal price – and slightly below average in the other two – precipitation and pollution.  While it may seem a little predictable that this major, yet quaint, city topped the list, what might be even more predictable is the city that finished at the very bottom: New York.

That’s right, the New York Jets finished dead last while the New York Giants finished second to last, both earning laughable scores in all of the categories, except ticket price. But hey, New York is always an easy target. Some of those two rankings might be because fans simply can’t give away tickets to home games at MetLife Stadium this season, while the Giants did get the honor of winning “most expensive” in the food and beer categories.

Some other notables on the list were the Carolina Panthers, who call Charlotte home, at No. 2, Green Bay, home of the Green Bay Packers, at No. 3 and the New England Patriots, who play just outside of Boston, at No. 28.  That last one we really cannot figure out. Sure, the Patriots had terrible scores in four categories including “most expensive” for tickets and that’s not surprising, because the franchise has built a dynasty for the last two decades. There might be some pollution, a whole lot of precipitation and expensive beer but how isn’t the franchise higher just based on winning?

Just the amount of recent wins alone should make it a more desirable spot. Winning is king.

Want to know where your team ranks on this list, well here you go.  Oh, and for all of you Canadian Football League fans out there, there’s also a list for those nine teams as well.
