For the last several years, Taco Bell has been running a free taco promotion during the World Series.  If any player during the best-of-seven series steals a base, the fast-food giant gives away one free Doritos Locos Tacos.  You know, the one with the commercial that runs between every inning, the Steal A Base, Steal A Taco promotion – it’s always fun for those who don’t care about the actual game.

Well, this year the last two standing Major League Baseball teams decided to get it out of the way early, thanks to Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts who stole a base in the first inning last night.  Taco Bell is, of course, making good on it’s promise, giving away one free taco on Nov. 1, between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m and while any excuse to grab some tacos is a good one, especially when they’re free, not everyone will be stopping at their local bell to take advantage of this awesome giveaway.  One of those people is Red Sox outfielder Brock Holt.  After last night’s huge 8-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers, the 30-year-old admitted to Chris Smith of MassLive that he’s not a fan of Taco Bell.

“I haven’t eaten Taco Bell in probably 10 years,” Holt said about the fast-food chain.  “So yeah, I’ll probably stay away from the free taco.  I’ll let everyone else get it.”

But don’t get the idea that Holt is some sort of savage, he still enjoys Mexican food while on the go, though it’s only Chipotle around his house.  If Chipotle was giving away some free food because of Betts’ steal, you can bet Holt and his family would be all over it.  And we can’t blame him, since we are definitely equal-opportunity Mexcian fast-food eaters.

“I would have to take my son there, because he loves Chipotle.  He crushes it.  So, he’s two-years-old and he eats a whole Chipotle bowl by himself.  I would have to give him my free Chipotle.  I’m going to stay away from Taco Bell.  You’ll end up on the toilet all night.”

Come on now Brock, Taco Bell is America’s hangover food of choice – or at least it’s ours.  It helps keep the country going, especially during weekend and late-night hours, and although you might not like it, we’re sure that the company isn’t going to be thrilled with you bashing it right after arguably it’s biggest promotion of the year.

Your penance is two Doritos Locos Tacos and a plate appearance against Craig Kimbrel.
