Former WWE Champion Glenn Jacobs, also known as Kane, defeated Democrat Linda Haney in Thursday night’s mayoral election race for Knox County in Tennessee while garnering over 66 percent of votes.
Jacobs was elected the Republican nominee in May after edging out Brad Anders in the Republican primary race by just 23 votes. The son of a veteran as well as a Missouri native, Jacobs has called Knox County home since 1995 and also started his own insurance company with his wife Crystal called Jacobs Insurance Associates.

When Jacobs made his WWE debut in 1995, it was as a demented dentist named Isaac Yankem. But he would really make his mark in 1997 when he debuted under a red and black mask as Kane, the Undertaker’s brother, at the Bad Blood: In Your House pay per view.
Throughout his career as Kane, he became one of WWE’s biggest stars and even became the third Grand Slam champion in company history. Jacobs also played Jacob Goodnight, a serial killer in the WWE Studios franchise See No Evil.
With the ruthlessness of his WWE character, his political opponents missed a prime comedic opportunity to mention in attack ads that he once electrocuted Shane McMahon’s testicles, tried to bury his brother alive, kidnapped a woman and also lit Jim Ross on fire.
It’s the second time a WWE Superstar will have held public office. The first time was in 1998 when Jesse “The Body” Ventura became governor of Minnesota. Ventura made an appearance as a special guest referee at WWE’s SummerSlam in 1999. Look for Jacobs to do something similar considering he was still actively wrestling this summer.
